Eric Muller: 8/3/97

 (John Green)

Renee dragged John over to one of the harpoons, and started to haul him over to the Argo. Cab and I followed the boarding party into the shuttle. The first thing Cab did was walk into a wall. After she got up, we headed aft, away from the boarding party. Just before we open the first intact door, there is a large pressure drop. We hurry through, to the sound of pressure containment doors dropping.

We found ourselves trapped in a smoky, firelit engine room. Kasee decided to pop in and join the group. She was unusually quiet - probably because she was unconscious. Before either of us could react, the angry cat that appeared with Kasee latched itself onto her chest. Very securely - the claws appeared somewhat larger than normal.

We tried a few things to get the cat off - all of them damaging to Kasee, none of them effective. Cab started off by wrapping it in her coat. We hear flesh rip, and saw blood seep under the jacket. I tried to shock the cat with a readily available cable. The cat didn't seem impressed, but Kasee did. I wonder if she likes her hair that way? Cab pulled out her sword and tried to pry the cat off, but it wasn't moving. Looked like Kasee was stuck with it for a while.

We hauled Kasee over to the airlock. We wouldn't all fit in, so I left the inner door open and used the emergency crank on the outer door. Everything was fine until I had the door open and could see the stars. Then, the air pressure started to go, so I threw up a quick force wall to hold it while I pushed the close button. Fortunately it worked. We dragged Kasee back out of the airlock.

Kasee regained consciousness. She let us know by screaming. When we got her calmed down somewhat, she told us the cat was some sort of paradox effect. Cab claimed that the cat was alive. Kasee didn't believe her, since last time she had checked, it wasn't. Sure enough, it was now, and seemed to have Kasee's pattern. It's a good thing Cab decided not to amputate it. I left Cab and Kasee talking, found a fire extinguisher, and got most of the fires under control.

I was surprised, to say the least, to see Nathaniel walk through one of the doorways. He had apparently left a message for us on his toaster - I'll have to check it when we get back. Nathaniel herded us forward to the cockpit, where Kevin was lying with a hole in his chest. He looked seriously injured, but was still breathing. As the group moved over to the Argo, we brought Nathaniel up to speed on events and Nathaniel told us a little about the space station, which belonged to the ethernauts.

Soon after we docked at the station, which looked more like a Victorian- era train station, Kasee felt compelled to announce that she could teleport. I was grateful for the warning. Nathaniel led us to a hotel, where we were greeted by Thea - obviously an android, since she had metallic skin. She informed Nathaniel that he was needed aboard the Nautilus immediately.
