While Thea was leading us to our rooms, Renee asked about medical facilities and Cab inquired about hot chocolate. The station had no real medical facilities, but cocoa was available. Thea locked us into the suite. She returned a short while later with a tray full of mugs and a carafe of cocoa. Thea informed those of us who were still conscious that Professor Dubrius, the curator, wished to see us in the morning.
I hadn't been sleeping long before Kasee started screaming. She didn't appear to have done anything dangerous, so I went back to sleep. Upon awakening, around 0600 local time (according to the grandfather clock in the corner), I took a look around - using sight and the Arts. Everything looked relatively ordinary. I used the free time to meditate.
I came out of my trance to the sound of voices. Renee was explaining Kasee's screaming fit to Cab. Apparently, Kasee had some sort of dream where she rescued her cat during the cairn-opening ceremony. The downside being that the chantry exploded. I would be somewhat upset if our library was destroyed. Just as Renee completed her story, Kevin started screaming. Renee rushed into Kevin's room to tend him. Thea arrived soon after and walked in after Renee. From the snatches of conversation I overheard, Kevin seemed a bit disoriented - who wouldn't be, with a hole in their chest.
Thea directed us to the dining room, which had no other patrons while we were there. As we returned to out suite, I asked Thea when Professor Dubrius was expecting us. She thought he would be awake by now, so locked us into our room and hurried off.
Around 1100, there was a knock on the door. Renee opened it, and let in a well-dressed gentleman. The gentleman introduced himself as Karlwerner Luftwelle III, saying that the Professor had sent him to see to our needs. Kasee asked him if he had a way to remove the bracelet the Man In Black forced her to wear. After inspecting it for a short time, Karlwerner rang for Thea and asked her is she could remove it. Thea said she could not remove the bracelet without removing the hand also, so it was left as a problem for the Professor. Karlwerner allowed Thea to escort John and Renee around the station, then took his leave.
When John and Renee returned, they said that the tendril headed out into deep space. John thought that its likely destination was Maltheus - the home of the Wyrm.
At 1200, there is another knock on the door. It was Professor Dubrius. When he asked, Kasee told him that the Man in Black who tagged her was called Ravi. Professor Dubrius referred to him as a gray man, and seemed to recognize his work. He examined the bracelet for a while longer, then motioned me over, pointing out two inscriptions on the bracelet. I was quite surprised - the inscriptions were two words in Enochian - watch, and power. The word "power" was positioned on the seam of the bracelet, so if it were separated, the characters would read "self-death".
After a discussion, the Professor and I agreed that it would be best to try and erase the inscriptions. He had Thea bring in his small Doomsday device, then told me I would have to perform the working, as he did not know the language. He seemed to read it fairly well, and when I pressed him for an explanation, he said that he could understand it because I was close. I am going to have to learn to shield my mind. I know Master Dreggen covered it. I'll try to remember the lessons later.
I spent some time to figure out in what order to erase the characters. I didn't want to take the chance of forming a dangerous combination. Once I was prepared, I had Kasee place her arm in the Doomsday device. It took a little persuasion - I guess she didn't like the name. Using the device to focus, I erased the characters, starting with "watch", which reduced to "breeze" then reducing "power" to "earth". The hard part done, I broke the seam, reducing the bracelet to a metallic puddle at the bottom of the device. Kasee was relieved to find her hand still attached when she removed it from the device.
