Kasee: 11/18/96 (10/31/96 - continued)
Halloween was SOOOO cool! Anyway. Daedelus had a really cool costume, he was kinda transparent, which made him kinda hard to look at, but this is Daedelus after all. So I stepped sideways, and so did Wolfie. I'm really glad Wolfie was there, because those Goblins were eyeing me like I was snack food or something. But they were afraid of Wolfie, especially once he turned into his really big wolf form. Guess I don't blame them, Wolfie can be pretty scary, even if I know he's a nice wolf. So I climb on Wolfie's back, and he goes running off toward the Bell Tower to get there by 10. It was the coolest ride of my life. We get there, and then all the weird fun stuff began.
Wolfie and I noticed twelve black men in black robes in a circle in the park. That's kinda weird. They had real dull black auras, and when I checked, I could tell they weren't alive. Umm, I thought dead things didn't have auras, and I pointed this out to Wolfie. He said they were wraiths, which are dead people that hang out in the Dark Umbra, which is a bad place to go (sounds pretty scary, could be fun!), and they could be good guys or bad guys, he wasn't sure. Wolfie tried to talk to them, but they just ignored him, so he left something at the feet of one of them and said bothering them too much might be really bad. I'll take his word for it. I mean, dead things with auras? Ick. We step into the real world to see what's going on.
Well, the bimbos were there. Verbena magic is kinda cool, because two of them could lift a 300 lb box, and I know they aren't really strong enough to do that. Anyway, that box is pretty freaky. Definitely the Weather Machine, because it had a HUGE swirly aura that hurt to look at for too long, and I found myself almost being mesmerized by it. So I tried not to stare at it for too long. They then opened the box, and sure enough, something that looked like a machine was in it, with blinky lights and switches and everything. Hard to believe that little thing controls the world's weather. They then took the box apart, and started turning it into a wall around the park. The first part made a doorway, then the other pieces disappeared when they did something with them. Cab was staring into the Umbra to keep us posted, and she said a doorway and then huge obsidian walls were appearing and the wraiths were inside the wall. Renee decided she needed to talk to Nicole, offer help, that sort of friendly Verbena thing to do, so I went with her so I wouldn't miss anything. Renee walks up and asks Nicole if she knew that there were wraiths in her circle. Shocked the hell out of me, not quite what I would have said. But I had to agree. Then a cabin appeared, or at least part of a cabin. Kinda looked like a cabin cut-out stuck in a wall. Tiffany and Stephanie walked out of it and then Daedelus appeared in the cabin. Turns out it was his sanctum from Saratoga, though what it was doing in Pullen Park, I'm not quite sure, but it has something to do with Correspondence, that much I understand now (correspondence is sooo cool).
Anyway, Nicole then walked out of the doorway to the circle (actually, it was more a square) and closed it behind here, because Renee and I couldn't follow her. Then the cabin and Daedelus disappeared. We ask her what hat was all about, and she says people are trying to steal the Weather Machine (who, us? Never) and I ask, "Who'd do that?" and I almost died laughing when Renee said, "Kasee, there are bad people out there who would do things like that. Remember the bad men who tried to kidnap you?" Hehehehe. I just looked at her with a wide eyed look that I hoped didn't look like I was trying not to laugh.
