Attitude to spare. This is a hip pizza joint, and they know it. There's no table service, and during peak times it can take up to 15 minutes of waiting in line just to place your order. It's almost worth the wait; the pizza is above-average, regardless of what topping you choose. Their pepperoni was spicy but not too greasy, the tomato sauce a little on the acidic side, and the crust was moist and chewy. The interior of the restaurant is hot, cavernous, dark, and loud (the latter depending on what CD's the kitchen staff is listening to at the time). The tables outside are one of the reasons to go to Lilly's - this is one of the best places in Raleigh for people-watching. Although you are right on busy Glenwood Avenue, there is a large amount of pedestrian traffic, and even watching the cars fly by can be entertaining. The drawback is that the ten or so outdoor tables fill up fast at the dinner hour and can be near-impossible to get. Parking is a hassle, too, but part of the overall experience (try parking on Fairview Rd., but DON'T park in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot - they tow). This is part of a great evening - dinner at Lilly's, a movie at The Rialto (a block and a half away), and coffee afterwards at The Third Place, which is right next door.

Lilly's has pretty good pizza, and the outdoor atmosphere is pretty nice, as long as you can get a seat and don't mind a wait. I did the Lilly's-Rialto-3rd Place evening w/ Tom, and it really is a blast. Everything's in walking distance, and there are a bunch of nice shops nearby for window shopping. I found the pizza a little greasy for my taste, but still good. Fairview is your best bet for parking.
