The last gasp of the White Imron!

After I got the car back together, it drove so much better.  The clutch still chatters a little bit, but the vibration is nowhere near as bad as it was with the worn out rear end.  The car doesn't pull left under acceleration any longer, and it corners much more responsively with the new poly bushings.

I went to the Raleigh Auto Fair in March and scored another pair of Radial T/As to replace the dry rotted ones that were still on the car.  I also got some replacement stainless steel trim rings, and a set of used Rally Wheel center caps.  I paid  $65 each for the tires, $35 for a new rim for a spare tire, $65 for the center caps, and $55 for the trim rings.  I felt like I got a good deal, especially on the caps.

Here are some shots with the new rings and caps on the car, but still the old tires.  I waxed the horrible Imron paint for the last time, as it turns out.  After this I decided that I was tired of the car looking so crummy, and embarked down a terrific yet frustrating journey toward a repaint back to the original Cortez Silver metallic color.

See the dark spot on the front edge of the drivers door in the above photo?  That would be a big chunk of fiberglass that got knocked out from the rear as the door was opened too far and bent the hinge and broke the hinge spring.  Guess who will be doing some fiberglass repairs?!

On the rear bow you can see a dark spot of primer where the paint has chipped off.  These pictures really make the car look much nicer than it looked in person!

Here are a couple of interior shots, and the motor too.  Notice that the seats are actually leather seats out of a '75 ( I think?).  The prior owner still has the original '69 seats and I'm going to get them from him real soon now.....

I drove the car until May, then started stripping all the old paint off to get a good surface for the new paint.
