Paper Clay

The size of most of my work  is dictated by the size of my kiln which is relatively small. I have a Tetlow K4 electric kiln which was the largest we could install on the regular power available. I now use paper clay for most of my hand built work  but, some time back, I  attended a weeks workshop run by Carole Driver at the Workshop Arts Centre, Willoughby, on sculpting with paper clay which enabled me to take advantage of the media and create some much larger pieces.

These pieces are approximately 50cm tall. Originally I intended these to be the kings and queens of the chess set but since they were only bisque fired  and I wanted to glaze the set, I decided against it.
