I find internet trading has improved my ability to access US securities markets tremendously. Am an American expatriate living in Bangkok. I have found little trouble with delays in order execution especially with market orders. I have received confirmations of trades in as little as 5 minutes.

We have found that electronic trades add a substantial delay to exectuion. In all cases the use of a broker who has immediate access to a "market" computer screen can execute faster. If anyone knows of an electronic system that gives INSTANTANEOUS execution of market orders please let us know.

I have some questions - What might be the negative imlications of doing trades with electronic brokers. Is there any data collected on this topic based on actual experience of traders? Note - I have been trading for a long time using discount brokers, but the electronic brokers like ETrade seem to offer much more online research and lower trading costs. Thanks.

If you are interested in buying and selling stock through the Internet the same rule applies as in regular investments --- Don't invest any money you can't afford to lose.

I'm happy to be your first response. I feel the internet and internet IPO's are a easy alternative to obtaining financing the company has little to lose. The individual investor takes on all the risk. Currently unless the investor has a vested interest, such as; is a consumer or a supplier of the product, there is really no reason to buy, unless of course they are thrill seekers. If that is the case, they should give me the money, I'll give them a thrill.
