Dr
Steven Sommer
Dr Steven Sommer has held a number of senior management roles within the leading global technology organisations. He has worked at both Australian and multinational companies including Cisco, Microsoft, Oracle, and IBM. He has created and led high performance groups within a range of professional services areas including research and development, consulting, and customer support.
In 2007, Dr Sommer left his role as Vice President of Research
and Development at Clarity International to take up a series of contract
engagements. He is currently lecturing Business Information Systems, Project
Management, and Negotiation, at the
Dr Sommer received his MBA in 2003 from the Australian
Graduate School of Management (AGSM). He received his PhD at the Microsoft
Research Institute in conjunction with
Dr Sommer is particularly interested in the following areas, each of which he has practical, teaching, and/or research experience.
Management: Organisational Design, Strategy, Organisational Culture and Cultural Change, High Performance Teams, Leadership, Project Management, Negotiation, Innovation, General Management, Agile Development, Problem Solving and Decision Making, IT Based Strategic Change, People-Centric Management, and Game Theory.
Technology: Security, Operating Systems, Distributed Systems, Real-Time Systems, Algorithms, Object Oriented Development, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Networking, Education, and Mathematics.
