To use a Cisco ISDN router, you must order ISDN service from your telephone company. To do this, order plain old telephone service (sometimes referred to as POTS) with the desired ISDN service and billing options. Once your ISDN service is installed, plug the telephone into the phone jack.
Many times, you can simply tell your telephone company that you want ISDN service and they will install it correctly. However, if the telephone company asks you for specific information about the type of service you want, you can get more details.
