This section discusses the objectives, audience, organization, use, and conventions of the Feature Guide for Cisco IOS Release 11.2 P.
This document describes new features that are available in Cisco IOS Release 11.2 P, up to and including Release 11.2(10)P. You can use this document to learn about and configure these new features.
This document does not describe features that are available in Release 11.2 or other special Release 11.2 releases (for example, Release 11.2 BC). For information about features in Release 11.2, refer to the Release Notes for Cisco IOS Release 11.2. For information about features in other Release 11.2 releases, refer to the release note and feature guide for that release.
Use Release 11.2 P when your hardware specifically requires this release or when the features and functionality you need are provided only in this release.
Cisco IOS Release 11.2 P is a platform-specific release. It consists of a limited number of feature-set images that provide new features or functionality to Cisco IOS Release 11.2 after Release 11.2(1). Release 11.2(10)P does not replace Release 11.2(10). It is an independent software release that includes all the software defect modifications of Cisco IOS Release 11.2 and new platform feature support.
Because this document describes new features only, you might need to use this document in conjunction with the Cisco IOS Release 11.2 configuration guides and command references in order to obtain complete configuration information.
This document is intended for users who configure and maintain Cisco IOS software but who are not necessarily familiar with specific tasks, the relationships between tasks, or the commands necessary to perform particular tasks.
This feature guide is published at each 11.2 P maintenance release. With each publication a new feature part, which contains the features associated with that maintenance release, is added to this guide.
This guide is cumulative; therefore, all features that are documented in prior 11.2 P maintenance releases also apply to the current maintenance release. For example, if you were to run Release 11.2(6)P, the documentation in parts up to and including 11.2(6) applies to the features supported in your software.
This document uses the following conventions:
Command descriptions use these conventions:

Within the Cisco IOS software documentation, the term router is used to refer to both access servers and routers. When a feature is supported on the access server only, the term access server is used. When a feature is supported on one or more specific router platforms (such as the Cisco 4500), but not on other platforms (such as Cisco 2500 series), the text specifies the supported platforms.
Within examples, routers and access servers are alternately shown. These products are used only for example purposes--an example that shows one product does not indicate that the other product is not supported.
