This document describes important notes and caveats for the Catalyst 2820 ATM module. Supporting documentation includes the Catalyst 2820 ATM Module Installation and Configuration Guide.
To order additional copies of the documentation, contact your local sales representative or call customer service. For information about accessing documentation on the World Wide Web, see the "Cisco Connection Online (CCO)" section.
The Catalyst 2820 ATM module uses the Catalyst 2820 firmware version 5.35 or above. You can check the installed firmware version by using the firmware menu. For firmware upgrade procedures, refer to the Catalyst 2820 Series and Catalyst 1900 Series Installation and Configuration Guide . You can access this document on CCO.
Cisco IOS Release 11.2(7)P is already installed on the Catalyst 2820 ATM module. If the installed Cisco IOS software gets corrupted, use the firmware version 5.35 configuration menu to reinstall the Catalyst 2820 ATM module Cisco IOS Flash image. For details on how to install the module Flash image, refer to the Catalyst 2820 Series and Catalyst 1900 Series Installation and Configuration Guide.
The Catalyst 2820 ATM module package contains two disks.
If you forget your password for the Catalyst 2820 ATM module, you can reset the password to the factory default by doing the following:
Step 1 Go to the main menu of firmware version 5.35.
Step 2 Enter P and press Return.
The Port Configuration menu appears.
Step 3 Enter F and press Return.
This resets the module with factory defaults.
The default password is no password.
The Cisco IOS ping and traceroute commands are not supported.
You cannot save your running configuration to a network Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) server.
This release of the Catalyst 2820 ATM module supports only one emulated LAN.
After installation, if you disconnect the module fiber-optic or UTP cable and then reconnect it, the reported number of current virtual channel connections (VCCs) will be incorrect. The correct VCC number increases by two whenever you disconnect and reconnect the cable. This value shows "Current VCCs" when you enter the Cisco IOS show atm int atmx command, where x is 0 or 1. The SNMP MIB object atmInterfaceConfVccs will have the same incorrect value as the reported VCCs value.
The "Cell HEC errors" counter shown on the Catalyst 2820 Port Statistics screen is incorrect. The displayed counter information is actually the number of ATM packets that have been dropped.
The Reset port statistics option on the Catalyst 2820 console menu does not reset the "Cell HEC errors" or the "No buffer discards" counters.
