About This Guide

This section discusses the objectives, audience, and organization of the CiscoSecure UNIX Server User Guide.

All Cisco technical documentation and additional literature are available on UniverCD, Cisco's online library of product information. UniverCD is updated and shipped monthly, so it might be more up to date than printed documentation. UniverCD is available both as a single CD and as an annual subscription. Document Objectives

The objective of this document is to help you configure and use the CiscoSecure UNIX Server software and review some basic concepts of network security. For sample file formats, guidelines for troubleshooting, and a list of references and recommended reading, refer to the appendixes.

Audience

This publication was written for system administrators who are using CiscoSecure UNIX Server software and responsible for maintaining accounts and dial-in network security.

Document Organization

This user guide describes the CiscoSecure UNIX Server software, introduces you to information about network security, details the installation procedure, describes the CiscoSecure UNIX Server configuration, and covers the operation of the graphical user interface (GUI). Appendixes include information about converting existing files, describe file formats and syntax, and include information about troubleshooting.

Document Conventions

This publication uses the following conventions to convey instructions and information:

Command descriptions use these conventions:

• Commands and keywords are in boldface font.

• Variables for which you supply values are in italic font.

• Filenames are in plain font.

• Elements in square brackets ([ ]) are optional.

• Alternative but required keywords are grouped in braces ({ }) and are separated by a vertical bar ( | ).

Examples use these conventions:

• Terminal sessions are in screen font.

• Information you enter is in boldface screen font.
