Stopping and Uninstalling CiscoSecure GRS

This chapter includes the instructions for stopping CiscoSecure GRS and for uninstalling CiscoSecure GRS from the hard disk.

Stopping CiscoSecure GRS

To stop CiscoSecure GRS, follow these steps:

Step 1 Enter:

cd $GRSHOME/bin

$GRSHOME is the name of the directory in which CiscoSecure GRS is installed.

Step 2 Enter:

./stop_grs

Uninstalling the CiscoSecure GRS Software

To remove CiscoSecure GRS, follow these steps:

Step 1 Log in as root.

Step 2 Change to either the /usr/sbin directory (C shell users) or the /usr/bin (Bourne shell users) directory and enter:

% pkgrm CSCOgrs

Step 3 The CiscoSecure GRS files are removed from the hard disk. If removal is successful, CiscoSecure GRS displays the following message:

Removal of <CSCOgrs> was successful.

CiscoSecure GRS stores its operational data either in a flatfile data store or in an Oracle database. The data will not be removed by the procedure described above. The flatfile data store is housed in the $GRSHOME/etc/.working directory in the form of .db files.

If you reinstall CiscoSecure GRS, your existing data store is preserved.

Removing Data from the System after an Uninstall

The package removal process will not remove the $GRSHOME/etc/ directory or any of the .db and .bak files under the $GRSHOME/etc/.working directory. Additionally, the removal process will not delete any tables from the Oracle database. To remove the data from your system, follow the steps in the section that applies to the data store you are using (either the flatfile data store or the Oracle database).

Caution There is no way to recover data after it has been removed.

Removing Flatfile Data

If you were using a flatfile data store, follow these steps to remove the data from your system:

Step 1 Change to the directory one level above the directory where CiscoSecure GRS has been installed. Enter:

cd

Step 2 Enter:

rm -rf CSCOgrs

The data is removed from the data store. See your Solaris documentation for more information.

Removing Oracle Data

To remove the data from your system if you are using an Oracle database, log in as a valid user to Oracle using SQL-Plus and enter the following statements to drop all the data/tables from the data store:

drop table grsacs
drop table grsattrtranslation
drop table grsattribute
drop table grsippool
drop table grsipaddressrange
drop table grsnas
drop table grsvendor
drop table grsdomainconfig

Caution This operation cannot be reversed.
