Release Notes for the Cisco AccessPath-TS3 Integrated Access System for
Cisco IOS Release 11.2(10) P

January 26, 1998

These release notes describe the features and caveats for Cisco IOS software on the Cisco AccessPath-TS3 Integrated Access System, up to and including Cisco IOS Release 11.2(10) P.

For additional information on the releases of software used on the Failsafe/Console Management Shelf and the Switch Shelf, refer to the documents referenced in "Related Documentation" and the document Release Notes for Cisco IOS Release 11.2(10). The electronic documentation can be found on Cisco Connection Online on the World Wide Web and on the Documentation CD-ROM. (Refer to the "Online Navigation" section for more details.)

Table 1 lists the AccessPath-TS3 system shelves and the version of the Cisco IOS software each is running. (The Switch Shelf does not run Cisco IOS software.) In order for the AccessPath-TS3 system to operate correctly, it must have the correct software.

AccessPath-TS3 System Configuration Guidelines

These guidelines are used during the preconfiguration process for the Cisco AccessPath-TS3 Integrated Access System. They should be taken into consideration during any subsequent reconfigurations of the AccessPath-TS3 system.

Note The AccessPath-TS3 system has been tested and optimized to work with its preconfigured hardware and software. For optimal performance, maintain the AccessPath-TS3 system's configuration in accordance with the following guidelines.

  1. Disable CDP on dialer interfaces.

  2. Disable unnecessary protocols, such as MOP and LAT on Ethernet interfaces.

Interfaces Supported on the Access Server and Router Shelves

The Access Server Shelves and Router Shelves of the AccessPath-TS3 system use Cisco IOS Release 11.2(10a) P1 and 11.2(10a) P, respectively.

Interfaces Supported on the Access Server Shelves

The Access Server Shelves support the following LAN and WAN interfaces:

New Features in the Access Server and Router Shelves

There are no new features in the Access Server Shelves (Cisco AS5300) or Router Shelves (Cisco 7206) for Cisco IOS Release 11.2(10a) P and 11.2(10a) P1, respectively.

Cisco IOS Feature Sets for the Access Server and Router Shelves

The Cisco IOS software is packaged into "feature sets" (also called "software images"). There are many different feature sets available, and each feature set contains a specific subset of Cisco IOS features.

The Cisco IOS Enterprise image is loaded on every shelf in the AccessPath-TS3 system, except on the Failsafe Console Management Shelf, which has the IP+ image on it. The AccessPath-TS3 system is shipped with IP configurations only; however, if you want a detailed list of all the features available with Enterprise, refer to the Cisco Product Catalog, CCO, or the Documentation CD-ROM. (Refer to the sections "Cisco Connection Online" and "Documentation CD-ROM" later in this document for details.)

Issues Resolved in Release 11.2(10) P

This section describes fixes introduced in Release 11.2(10) P. For a list of serious problems that might affect the AccessPath-TS3 system, refer to the section "Release 11.2(10) P Caveats." For the complete list of caveats against Release 11.2, access CCO or use the Documentation CD-ROM as described in the section "Online Navigation."

Release 11.2(10) P Caveats

This section describes possibly unexpected behavior by Release 11.2(10). Unless otherwise noted, these caveats apply to all 11.2, 11.2 P, and 11.2 F releases up to and including 11.2(10). The caveats listed here describe only the serious problems. For the complete list of caveats against Release 11.2, use the Documentation CD-ROM or access CCO as described in the section "Online Navigation" earlier in this document.

When running Cisco IOS software on the AccessPath-TS3 system, keep the following caveats in mind. These caveats pertain specifically to AccessPath-TS3 system configurations:

Cisco Connection Online

Cisco Connection Online (CCO) is Cisco Systems' primary, real-time support channel. Maintenance customers and partners can self-register on CCO to obtain additional information and services.

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, CCO provides a wealth of standard and value-added services to Cisco's customers and business partners. CCO services include product information, product documentation, software updates, release notes, technical tips, the Bug Navigator, configuration notes, brochures, descriptions of service offerings, and download access to public and authorized files.

CCO serves a wide variety of users through two interfaces that are updated and enhanced simultaneously: a character-based version and a multimedia version that resides on the World Wide Web (WWW). The character-based CCO supports Zmodem, Kermit, Xmodem, FTP, and Internet e-mail, and it is excellent for quick access to information over lower bandwidths. The WWW version of CCO provides richly formatted documents with photographs, figures, graphics, and video, as well as hyperlinks to related information.

You can access CCO in the following ways:

For a copy of CCO's Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), contact cco-help@cisco.com. For additional information, contact cco-team@cisco.com.

Note If you are a network administrator and need personal technical assistance with a Cisco product that is under warranty or covered by a maintenance contract, contact Cisco's Technical Assistance Center (TAC) at 800 553-2447, 408 526-7209, or tac@cisco.com. To obtain general information about Cisco Systems, Cisco products, or upgrades, contact 800 553-6387, 408 526-7208, or cs-rep@cisco.com.

Documentation CD-ROM

Cisco documentation and additional literature are available in a CD-ROM package, which ships with your product. The Documentation CD-ROM, a member of the Cisco Connection Family, is updated monthly. Therefore, it might be more up to date than printed documentation. To order additional copies of the Documentation CD-ROM, contact your local sales representative or call customer service. The CD-ROM package is available as a single package or as an annual subscription. You can also access Cisco documentation on the World Wide Web at http://www.cisco.com, http://www-china.cisco.com, or http://www-europe.cisco.com.
