Update to Cisco uBR7246 Universal Broadband Router Installation and Configuration Guide

This document explains invalid environmental monitor warnings and messages that might appear on the console of a Cisco uBR7246 universal broadband router that has Cisco IOS software
Release 11.3(1) installed.

The initial release of the Cisco uBR7246 is a chassis-only release of the product; it does not include the Cisco cable modem cards. If your Cisco uBR7246 was shipped as a part of this initial release,
Cisco IOS Release 11.3(1) for the Cisco 7200 series routers was installed at the factory. This software release is fully compatible with your universal broadband router; however, invalid environmental monitor warnings and messages might appear on your Cisco uBR7246 console terminal. These invalid warnings and messages are caused by differences in the power supply tolerance ranges between the 550W AC-input power supplies installed in the Cisco uBR7246 universal broadband routers and the 280W power supplies installed in Cisco 7200 series routers.

Note The invalid environmental warnings and messages described in this document will no longer appear when the Cisco cable modem cards and Cisco IOS Release 11.3(2)XA or Cisco IOS Release 11.3(3)T begin shipping.

The following commands might display environmental monitor warnings and messages on your Cisco uBR7246 universal broadband router console when running Cisco IOS Release 11.3(1) for the Cisco 7200 series:

The show environment command on a Cisco uBR7246 universal broadband router might generate an invalid high voltage warning for the +3.5, +5.2, and +12 volt levels.
Following is an invalid overvoltage warning example on a Cisco uBR7246:
Router# show environment
Warning: +3.45 V measured at +3.55 V
         +5.2 V measured at +5.31 V
         +12.0 V measured at +12.62 V
Each of the above voltage measurements are within the normal ranges for the Cisco uBR7246, but are higher than the normal range for the Cisco 7200 series routers; therefore, an invalid overvoltage warning will occur.
The normal ranges for the Cisco uBR7246 are shown in the show environment table example later in this document.
The show environment all command on a Cisco uBR7246 universal broadband router might generate an invalid high temperature or voltage warning, and show that a power supply bay is empty when a power supply is installed.
Following is an example of an invalid show environment all command output on a Cisco uBR7246 running Cisco IOS Release 11.3(1) for the Cisco 7200 series:
Router# show env all
Power Supplies:
Power supply 1 is empty.
Power supply 2 is empty.
Temperature readings:
chassis inlet measured at 23C/73F
chassis outlet 1 measured at 25C/77F
chassis outlet 2 measured at 32C/89F
chassis outlet 3 measured at 41C/105F
Voltage readings:
	+3.45 V measured at +3.51 V
	+5.2 V measured at +5.19 V
	+12.2 V measured at +12.42 V
	-12.2 V measured at -12.14 V

Following is an example of show environment all command output on a Cisco uBR7246 running Cisco IOS Release 11.3(2)XA or Cisco IOS Release 11.3(3)T:

Router# show env all
Power Supplies:
Power supply 1 is AC Power Supply. Unit is on.
Power supply 2 is AC Power Supply. Unit is on.
Temperature readings:
chassis inlet measured at 23C/73F
chassis outlet 1 measured at 25C/77F
chassis outlet 2 measured at 32C/89F
chassis outlet 3 measured at 41C/105F
chassis outlet 4 measured at 46C/114F
Voltage readings:
+3.5 V measured at +3.59 V
+5.2 V measured at +5.22 V
+12.2 V measured at +12.29 V
-12.2 V measured at -12.39 V
+16 V measured at +15.46 V
-16 V measured at -18.29 V
The show environment table command displays only four of the five temperature points, and four of the six measured Cisco uBR7246 voltages. The tolerances for warnings to the console are also different.
Following is an example of an invalid show environment table command output on a Cisco uBR7246 running Cisco 7200 series software:
Router# show env table
Sample Point     Low Critical Low Warning    High Warning   High Critical
chassis inlet 40C/104F 50C/122F
chassis outlet 1 43C/109F 53C/127F
chassis outlet 2 75C/167F 75C/167F
chassis outlet 3 50C/122F 60C/140F
+3.45 V +3.26 +3.34 +3.55 +3.63
+5.15 V +4.86 +4.99 +5.31 +5.43
+12.15 V +11.39 +11.67 +12.62 +12.91
-11.95 V -9.52 -10.73 -13.16 -14.38
System shutdown for chassis outlet 1 58C/136F
System shutdown for chassis outlet 3 65C/149F
Following is an example of show environment all command output on a Cisco uBR7246 running Cisco IOS Release 11.3(2)XA or Cisco IOS Release 11.3(3)T:
Router# show env table
