Preface

This section discusses the objectives, audience, organization, and conventions of the Cisco StrataCom IGX Installation publication.

Cisco documentation and additional literature are available in a CD-ROM package, which ships with the product. The Documentation CD-ROM is updated monthly. Therefore, it might be more up-to-date than printed documentation. To order additional copies of the Documentation CD-ROM, contact your local sales representative or call customer service. Objectives

This publication provides descriptions for installing and starting up of the following IGX hardware:

• Controller cards (the CPU for the node)

• Frame relay interface cards

• Trunk cards

• Alarm cards

Audience

The Cisco StrataCom IGX Installation publication provides installers, operators, and network designers and managers with the necessary understanding to set up any model of an IGX node. This manual applies to the IGX 8, IGX 16, and IGX 32 nodes in both rack-mount and stand-alone versions.

Conventions

This publication uses the following conventions to convey instructions and information.

Command descriptions use these conventions:

• Commands and keywords are in boldface.

• Arguments for which you supply values are in italics.

• Required command arguments are inside angle brackets (< >).

• Optional command arguments are in square brackets ([ ]).

• Alternative keywords are separated by vertical bars ( | ).

Examples use these conventions:

• Terminal sessions and information the system displays are in screen font.

• Information you enter is in boldface screen font.

• Nonprinting characters, such as passwords, are in angle brackets (< >).

• Default responses to system prompts are in square brackets ([ ]).
