Leah was my second granddaughter, second child of my elder son Bob and his wife, Laura. Leah died, not unexpectedly, a few minutes after she was born.

When I got the news I went to my piano, and a sweet, sad tune just came. It's the background music for this page. I like it best as a music box. The playing is less than perfect, since I'm not an accomplished pianist, but it's played by me, from my heart. The words fill the bulk of this page.

Some weeks after she died the family gathered at my son's house in Michigan to remember Leah. At her mother's request we filled a memory box so her sister, and now new brother, would know of her short life. I invoked Grandpa's privilege and supplied her a teddy bear, just a small one, in a white dress, with angel wings.

I sent the
details to many friends on the Internet. As a result about 40 pages of sympathy notes, received electronicly from around the world, went on paper and into Leah's box.
Red rose bud
Leah Rose
Good news came last autumn.
Our son called one day.
To join their little daughter,
A baby on the way.

Verse 1:
Happy mom is planning,
Love inside her grows,
If it is a girlchild
Call her Leah Rose.

Verse 2:
Doctor says there's something wrong.
Months we wait and pray.
Precious time with Dad and Mom,
But Leah couldn't stay.
Break:
Here for such a short time,
Missed such joys and woes,
Wait for us in heaven,
Lovely Leah Rose.
Verse 3:
From Grandpa.
For Leah Rose,
With love,
