Graphics

Indigo2 is available with a family of graphics subsystems. Extreme (tm) Graphics is a revolution in 3D interactive graphics, allowing you to handle complex projects with ease. XZ Graphics provides the performance and power to accomplish big things at a small price. XZ redefines the marketplace for affordable, performance driven 3D. XL Graphics provides leading X, 2D, and pixel performance for the imaging, and entry CAD markets.

Expandable Power

The key to breakthrough application performance is having the highest bandwidth buses. The Indigo2 system bus supports a 266 MB/sec sustained transfer rate. Indigo2 also has the largest instruction and data caches which assures top "real world" performance.

Indigo2 systems come with the choice of two balanced high- performance processors; the MIPS(r) RISC R4400(tm)/150MHz processor or the R4000(r)/100 MHz processor. Both processors provide leading integer and floating point performance, fast on chip cache and a large 1MB secondary cache. Finally, to feed the bus and processor we have designed in two Fast SCSI-2 I/O channels along with a host of custom VLSI chips to efficiently manage and utilize the system's bandwidth and performance.

Unrivaled Expandability

We didn't stop there. We included standard EISA with high performance GIO to provide for the highest level of expandability. Indigo2 also contains two independent Fast SCSI-2 channels for flexible disk and peripheral configuration. And of course, each system has a variety of industry standard I/O, including both AUI and 10 BaseT networking, two serial ports, a parallel port, and five audio connections.

Indigo Magic gives users immediate access to revolutionary digital media technology through the IRIS Showcase (tm) presentation application, IRIS InSight (tm) on-line tools, and Media Mosaic (tm) end user tools (audio & video control panel, CD & DAT manager, and MovieMaker and MoviePlayer to name a few). All this combined with 16-bit, 6 channel audio and live video capabilities make working with Indigo fun.
