SAB/Miller Castle Lager South Africa 5.0 Having had to survive this brew for several years - Any comments would probably be tainted.
SAB/Miller Lion Lager South Africa 5.0 This beer was going out of fashion back in the early 1980's and I am not surprised. Bland is an understatement.
SAB/Miller Black Label South Africa 5.5 This is the traditional ale for fishing trips in southern Africa. Quite malty but at 6.00am on a boat in the Okovango Delta in Botswana my taste buds were not at their best ! !
Mitchell's Bosun's Bitter South Africa 3.6 A small brewery in the Cape Province with a very knowledgeable head brewer. Quite a good hop taste with maltiness but the Forester's Draught is better for flavour.
Mitchell's Forester's Draught South Africa 3.6 Having made the comments above their is nothing much to add - just enjoy this mid strength beer if you ever get down to the Garden Route in South Africa. Just be careful where you park your car as it is quite handy to still have it where you left it upon your return!
Maluti Premium Lager Lesotho 4.8 Well you don't often travel to Lesotho so I had to try this one. It was freezing at the top of the Sani Pass between Lesotho and South Africa - the mist was swirling around the mountain passes below. Romantic setting but this beer was nothing to get excited about.
windhoek.jpg (2640 bytes) Windhoek Lager Namibia 4.0 The best beer brewed in Namibia in my opinion, also the best on southern Africa. Brewed in accordance with traditional German laws.
tafel.jpg (2579 bytes) Tafel Lager Namibia 4.0 Not a bad beer at all and great if you want a coldie at lunchtime.
das.jpg (2345 bytes) Das Pilsner Namibia 3.0 Yes, well! Water and Windhoek Lager would probably taste like this stuff.
zambezi.jpg (1962 bytes) Zambezi Lager Zimbabwe 4.7 Not a bad lunch time style of beer, quite malty in taste.
Tusker Lager Kenya 5.0 I guess if it is hot out there on the Serengeti Plains anything will do.
Pheonix Beer Mauritius 5.0 Well there is a bit of maltiness and a hint of hops and the bottle suggests serving ice cold - I am not that surprised as there is not much else but having a cold one is better than having a warm one.
Halala Lager Swaziland Unknown Halala means good health and good luck in the local siSwati language. This was brewed especially for the coronation of the King Mswati III in April 1986.
Laurentina Mozambique 5.0 Very average.
Beerlao Laos 5.0 Rice beer is not really not my scene.
Tsingtao Beer China 4.3 Need I say anymore but bland.
Suntory Magnum Dry China 5.0 .Japanese beer made in China. Boring, cold, wet, nil aroma, almost no maltiness and almost no hops
OB Golden Lager South Korea 4.8 Quite a basic beer but at least it is made using the right raw materials. Well priced as well.
Sass Fresh Lager South Korea 4.5 Mmmm. Not much to say about this ale. The kids of this world might like the fizziness but in respect of taste, aroma, etc forget it.
Sapporo Japan 5.0 Fairly  bulk standard - some hops but nothing to really buy again.
Bureiko Jikan Strong Golden Ale (Baird Beer) Japan 8.5 In the Belgian ale (Duvel) style this strong golden lager has lively taste and plenty of hop flavours.
Asahi Premium Dry Japan 5.0 Why doesn't Japan make decent beer instead of this average stuff.
Gosser Bier Austria 5.2 I hope all Austrian beer isn't like this I'll have to try to find some more. Bordering on Germany they can't all be like this - surely!

Carlsberg Elephant Beer Denmark 7.2 Quite a strong beer with plenty malt flavours.

Mythos Lager Greece 5.0 I suppose it would be quite different sipping this lager on a Greek island.
La Trappe Blond Trappist Holland 5.0 A decent imitation of the true Belgian Trappist Ales. Okay, it is a Trappist Ale but seems to lack something that the likes of Chimay, Orval, et al, have.

Grolsch Premium Holland 5.0 C'mon Holland give me a decent beer!
