If you are installing the AS5200 Manager application on a PC, you can access the Cisco AS5200 package file from Cisco Connection Online (CCO). This chapter describes how to install an incrementally released package file onto CiscoView in CiscoWorks Windows on a PC, and includes the following sections:
The tar file (*.tar) includes a ReadMe file and the AS5200 Manager application, which is an electronic network management package file (*.pkg). After you add the package file to CiscoView and CiscoWorks Windows, you can view and manage the Cisco AS5200 Universal Access Server using CiscoView.
Before adding a package file to CiscoView in CiscoWorks Windows, make sure of the following:
Cisco Connection Online (CCO), formerly Cisco Information Online (CIO), is the Cisco online support channel.
The following is a quick-reference overview of the steps necessary for downloading a tar file from CCO. Details about these steps are in the sections that follow.
Instructions for checking versions on Windows NT and Windows 95 follow. Follow the steps that applies to your operating system.
To check the CiscoView version on Windows NT, do the following:
Step 1 In the CiscoWorks Windows program group (where the CiscoWorks Windows icons are in view), click the CiscoView icon. CiscoView initializes.
Step 2 Select Help, then About CiscoView. Make sure the version number of CiscoView is 3.1 or later.
Step 3 Proceed to the section, "Close CiscoView."
To check the CiscoWorks Windows version on Windows NT, do the following:
Step 1 In the CiscoWorks Windows program group (where the CiscoWorks Windows icons are in view), click the ReadmeFile icon.
Step 2 Make sure the version number of CiscoWorks Windows is 2.0(1) or later.
Step 3 Close the Readme file.
Step 4 Proceed to the section, "Close CiscoView."
To check the CiscoView version on Windows 95, do the following:
Step 1 Select the taskbar Start menu, click the Programs folder, click CiscoWorks Windows, and click the CiscoView folder. CiscoView initializes.
Step 2 Select Help, then About CiscoView. Make sure the version number of CiscoView is 3.1 or later.
Step 3 Proceed to the section, "Close CiscoView."
To check the CiscoWorks Windows version on Windows 95, do the following:
Step 1 Select the taskbar Start menu, click the Programs folder, click CiscoWorks Windows, and click the ReadmeFile folder. The Readme file appears.
Step 2 Make sure the version number of CiscoWorks Windows is 2.0(1) or later.
Step 3 Close the Readme file.
Step 4 Proceed to the section, "Close CiscoView."
One way to close CiscoView is to select File, then Exit from the CiscoView Main window. Closing CiscoView is important! The package file will not install correctly if CiscoView is running during the installation.
One way to create a cv_pkgs directory in the CWW directory follows:
Step 1 Open a DOS window.
Step 2 Change to the \CWW directory.
Step 3 Enter this command line:
md cv_pkgs
Open your Web browser (it might be located in your Accessories folder), and access CCO. Depending on the type of network access you have, access CCO as either a guest user of CCO or as a registered user of CCO. Both access methods are described in the next sections.
If you are not registered on CCO, you can be granted a special access code to access the AS5200 tar file. Follow these steps to log in as a guest and download the tar file:
Step 1 Phone the Technical Support team for CiscoView at 800 553-2447, 408 526-7209, or email tac@cisco.com; then enter:
http://www.cisco.com/public/library/spc_req.shtml
Step 2 Enter the special access code.
Step 3 Optionally, read the ReadMe file. To view the ReadMe, click the selection button to the left of the ReadMe file. Scroll up to the Execute button. Click Execute. Select the server closest to your part of the world. The ReadMe file appears. Print it if you like.
Step 4 If you are viewing the ReadMe file, click the Back button twice to return to the CiscoView Update Packages window.
Step 5 Click the selection button to the left of the tar file.
Step 6 To download the tar file, click Execute. Follow the prompts to download the tar file.
Step 7 Select United States (San Jose), European (Amsterdam), or China (Beijing), or the server closest to your part of the world.
Step 8 Save the tar file into the cv_pkgs directory on your PC.
Step 9 Proceed to the section "Unzip the Tar File."
Follow these steps to log in as a registered user:
Step 1 From a Web browser, access CCO by entering the following URL:
http://www.cisco.com
Step 2 To access the Software Image Library directly, enter the following URL:
http://www.cisco.com/kobayashi/Library_root.shtml
Step 3 At the prompts, enter your CCO user ID and password. The password might be your e-mail password.
Step 4 Proceed to the section, "Download the Tar File into the cv_pkgs Directory on Your PC."
This step applies to only CCO registered users. Follow these steps to download the tar file from the CCO software library to your PC.
Step 1 Scroll down to the Network Management Products section.
Step 2 Select CiscoView Upgrade Planner.
Step 3 Select CiscoView 3.1.1 Software Update Packages.
Step 4 Scroll down to the AS5200 tar file.
Step 5 Optionally, read the ReadMe file. To view the ReadMe file, click the selection button to the left of the ReadMe file. Scroll up to the Execute button. Click Execute. Select the server closest to your part of the world. The ReadMe file appears. Print it if you like.
Step 6 If you did not read the ReadMe file, skip to the next step (to select the tar file.)
If you are viewing the ReadMe file, click the Back button twice to return to the CiscoView Update Packages window.
Step 7 Select the tar file by clicking the button to the left of AS5200.cv311.Px-x.tar.
The x-x is the version number of the tar file. The tar file contains the package file (*.pkg) and associated ReadMe file.
Step 8 Locate the Execute button. Click Execute. (If necessary, use the scroll bar to scroll up to the Execute button.)
Step 9 Select United States (San Jose), European (Amsterdam), or China (Beijing), or the server closest to your part of the world.
Step 10 At the prompt, reenter your password.
Step 11 Depending on your browser, click the Save File button, or select the File menu, then Save As. You might be prompted to save the file to your PC, with a message like "Choose How to Handle," or "Save As."
Depending on your browser, a Filter window might appear, with Directories, Files, and Selection sections.
Step 12 Save to your PC, to the cv_pkgs directory you created earlier, then select Save.
Step 13 If the Filter window appears, complete step this step. In the Selection section of the Filter window, enter the complete destination path and filename of the tar file to be downloaded. For example:
/cww/cv_pkgs/AS5200.cv311.P2-0.tar
Step 14 After the file is downloaded, minimize the Web browser window.
Step 15 Proceed to the next section, "Unzip the Tar File."
Use WinZip to unzip (unbundle or extract) the tar file as described in this section. WinZip must be purchased and installed separately. The tar file includes a ReadMe and a package (*.pkg) file.
Step 1 Start WinZip.
You can use the Start menu, then Programs, then Accessories, or use Explorer to locate and start WinZip. WinZip might be in the WIN32APP, Program Files, or WinZip directory.
Step 2 From the WinZip main menu, click the Open icon.
Step 3 In the Look in field, select the drive and directory (CWW/cv_pkgs) containing the tar file.
Step 4 Select the tar file, then Open. The files embedded in the tar file appear.
Step 5 Select the Extract icon.
Step 6 In the Extract dialog box, click All files and Overwrite Existing Files.
Step 7 Make sure the directory to Extract To is appropriate, for example, CWW/cv_pkgs.
Step 8 Click Extract.
Step 9 Close WinZip.
Instructions for adding a package file on Windows NT and Windows 95 follow. Follow the steps in the section that applies to your operating system.
In Windows NT, return to the Program Manager and restore CiscoWorks Windows by clicking its icon. Double-click the Device Install icon. The Setup program starts. Go to the directory containing the package file (CWW/cv_pkgs); select the package file (*.pkg) you want to load; click OK. Many messages appear during installation. "Creating MIB database" and parsing take awhile.
If errors appear, see the section, "Installation Troubleshooting."
When the Setup Complete dialog box appears, select an option regarding the ReadMe file, then click Finish. Proceed to the section, "View Your Device."
In Windows 95, select the taskbar Start menu, click the Programs folder, click CiscoWorks Windows, and click Install Device. The Setup program starts. In the Select Package dialog box, select the directory containing the package file (CWW/cv_pkgs); select the package file (*.pkg) you want to load; click OK. Many messages appear during installation. "Creating MIB database" and parsing take awhile.
If errors appear, see the next section, "Installation Troubleshooting."

The following errors might appear if CiscoView is running while attempting to add the package file to CiscoView:
Error in creating file mib.dat
ERROR: xxxxx ciscoProducts: no such object xxxx
If these errors appear or errors similar to these errors, close CiscoView and add the package file again (using the Install Device option).
To ensure that the installation was successful, do the following:
Step 1 From the CiscoWorks Window program group, select the CiscoView icon.
Step 2 View your device.
You are finished with the installation.
Optionally, after successful installation, you can delete the cv_pkgs directory. Now proceed to Chapter 4, "Starting the AS5200 Manager," for launching information.
