This section provides information on command options that can be used with the vdirector command.
The following is the full syntax of the vdirector command:
vdirector [-kn <known network> | -cfg <configuration>] [-cdp <ip address or name of discovery root device>][[-csf <file>]] [[-rd <read-only Community string>] [-wr <read-write Community string>]] [-v | V]
All of the arguments shown above are optional. The vdirector command options are described in Table B-1.
Table B-1 : Command Line Options
| Option | Meaning |
|---|---|
| -kn | Specifies the name of the known network. If you specify the name of a known network that does not exist, VlanDirector will create a new known network with that name. The name of the known network must correspond to an existing management domain. When you use this option, you must also specify a discovery root device using the -cdp option. |
| -cfg | Specifies the name of a saved configuration. If you specify the name of a configuration that exists, VlanDirector will use the specified configuration. If you specify the name of a configuration that does not exist, VlanDirector displays a dialog box prompting you to enter the name of the configuration that you want to use. |
| -cdp | Specifies the IP address or host name of a device to use as the discovery root device. |
| -csf | Specifies a community string file name. |
| -rd -wr | Specifies the name of a read community string (-rd) and a write community string (-wr). If all the devices on the known network to be discovered have the same read-only and read-write community strings, you can use this option instead of using a community string file. For example, the following command starts VlanDirector using the read -only community string light and the read-write community string day:
vdirector -rd light -wr day
This command has the same effect as if you enter the following:
vdirector -csf <community string file>
replacing <community string file> with the name of the community string file for your network, and the file specifies light as the read-only community string and day as the read-write community string. |
| -v | V | Displays the version of the software and then exits. |
