VlanDirector is a virtual LAN-management application for Cisco Catalyst switches. It enables you to configure and modify virtual LANs (VLANs) using a Graphical User Interface (GUI). VlanDirector provides multiple windows for displaying configuration status, and provides both physical and logical views of interconnected Catalyst switches.
Use this guide when you create, configure, and manage VLANs using VlanDirector. Chapters 1 and 2 provide overview and planning information. Chapter 3 describes how to get started and navigate within the product. Chapters 4 and 5 provide information on configuring VLANs and links. Chapters 6, 7, and 8 provide additional information on managing and monitoring VLANs with VlanDirector.
Use the online help system that is integrated with the product for context-sensitive help on VlanDirector windows and error messages.
This guide is designed for network managers who are responsible for the initial setup and configuration of VLANs using VlanDirector. The network manager should be familiar with the following topics:

Information in this user guide applies to all management platforms on which VlanDirector runs except in the following case or where otherwise indicated.
UNIX systems use a three-button mouse. NT systems use a two-button mouse. To drag-and-drop on a UNIX system, press and hold down the middle mouse button on the icon to be dragged, and drag it to the target. Then release the mouse button to drop the icon on the target.
To drag and drop using an NT system, press and hold down the left mouse button on the icon to be dragged and drag it to the target. Then release the mouse button to drop the icon on the target.
