About This Manual
This section discusses the objectives, audience, organization, and conventions of the Workgroup Director User Guide.
The Workgroup Director User Guide is designed to help you install and use the Cisco Workgroup Director.
This publication is designed for system and network managers responsible for managing Cisco concentrators, switches, and adapters.
Following are the chapters and appendixes included in this publication:
- Chapter 1, "Product Overview," provides a brief description of the Workgroup Director software and hardware requirements, package contents, and an installation overview.
- Chapter 2, "Installing Workgroup Director on a SPARCstation," provides instructions for installing Workgroup Director in your Sun SPARCstation.
- Chapter 3, "Installing Workgroup Director on the IBM RS/6000," provides instructions for installing Workgroup Director in your IBM RS/6000 workstation.
- Chapter 4, "Installing Workgroup Director on HP Workstations," provides instructions for installing Workgroup Director in your HP workstation.
- Chapter 5, "Using Workgroup Director," provides instructions for using Workgroup Director commands and menus.
- Chapter 6, "Troubleshooting," provides instructions for identifying and resolving problems that may occur while using Workgroup Director.
- Appendix A, "Adapter Window," provides instructions for using the Adapter menu and parameters to configure your adapter.

- Commands and keywords are in boldface font.
- Variables for which you supply values are shown in angle brackets (< >).
- Elements in square brackets ([ ]) are optional.
- Alternative or optional keywords are grouped in square brackets ([ ]) and separated by a vertical bar ( | ).
- Required keywords are grouped in angle brackets (< >) and separated by a vertical bar ( | ).
Notes, cautions, and warnings use the following conventions and symbols:
Note Means reader take note. Notes contain helpful suggestions or references to materials not contained in this manual.
Caution Means reader be careful. You are capable of doing something that might result in equipment damage or loss of data.
Warning Means danger. You are in a situation that could cause bodily injury. Before you work on any equipment, be aware of the hazards involved with electrical circuitry and standard practices for preventing accidents.
