Product Overview

This chapter provides an overview of Workgroup Director, the Cisco concentrator, switch, and adapter management software. It contains information about the workstations and software required to run Workgroup Director, and includes important unpacking and registration information.

Workgroup Director is Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) based network management software for UNIX workstations that monitors the status of any Cisco concentrator, switch, or network adapter card. Workgroup Director supports the following Management Information Bases (MIB):

Workgroup Director uses the OPEN LOOK or Motif graphical user interface to display features graphical representations of a concentrator, switch, or adapter. The hub displays show the current state of all front panel indicators on the concentrator or switch. The Adapter display shows the current state of all indicators on the adapter faceplate. Pop-up menus allow you to examine or control the internal features of these devices.
