CiscoRemote® is a fully integrated suite of Internet applications and remote network access protocols for Microsoft Windows. The product contains all the applications and features required to access your company's network or the Internet by using a modem and phone connection from anywhere in the world.
CiscoRemote provides remote access to Microsoft and Novell file and print servers; remote access, control and file transfer between PCs; TCP/IP and PPP/SLIP protocol software for accessing the Internet; Internet applications for browsing the World Wide Web, uploading and downloading files, accessing host computers using terminal emulation, participating in USENET newsgroups, sending and receiving electronic mail, and performing other useful networking tasks.
The product contains the best application and protocol software available and has been customized and integrated for optimal interoperability and use with Cisco remote access servers. The application suite includes Powerburst remote node accelerator from Airsoft, Inc., Netscape Navigator from Netscape Communications, Inc., Timbuktu Pro remote control software from Farallon Computing, Inc., and TCP/IP protocol software and Internet applications from Network TeleSystems, Inc.
CiscoRemote is easy to install and use. To use CiscoRemote you merely need a phone number and a few pieces of information from your company's Network Administrator or a PPP or SLIP account with a local Internet service provider. Within minutes you will be accessing your company's network servers or cruising the Internet.
CiscoRemote includes the following:
Before you begin installation be sure that your PC meets the following minimum system requirements.
386, 486, or Pentium PC
4 Megabytes of RAM (8 or more recommended)
15 Megabytes of available hard disk space for a full installation
9600 baud modem (14400 baud modem or faster highly recommended)
DOS 5.0 or later (DOS 6.0 or later is recommended)
Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups 3.11
You will also need some information about how to setup the phone connection to your company's network or an Internet service provider. Not all of this information is required. The information listed in Table 1-1 includes everything that could be required (but typically is not!). Contact your company's Network Administrator or your Internet service provider to determine what information is required. Please make note of this information, you may need it during the installation of CiscoRemote.
