Cisco's AccessPath-LS3 access solution is designed to meet the demands of rapidly growing Internet Service Providers (ISPs), telecommunications carriers, and other network service providers who offer managed distributed Internet connections. AccessPath-LS3 also provides a ready solution for large enterprises as they expand their intranet requirements to include a significant component of dial access.
As a member in a family of integrated solutions, the AccessPath-LS3 provides an immediate high performance solution for small to medium dial points of presence (POPs) in a single, complete solution. Built upon Cisco's Dial Access Stacking Architecture (DASA), the AP-LS3 leverages the high-density AS5300 dial platform, the high speed FastHub 200 fast ethernet hub, and Cisco's industry-leading 3640 router product, to ensure cost-effective scalability from 96 to 384 port capacity in North America and 120 to 480 port capacity in Europe and rest of the world. This architecture accommodates rapid growth in network demand as well as geographic reach. It offers breakthroughs in distributed and remote POP management, density, and scalability, while continuing to provide the rich set of access services that are part of Cisco IOSTM software. To complement its industry-leading networking equipment, Cisco has developed a full spectrum of support solutions. The Cisco lifecycle-focused portfolio features startup, maintenance, marketing, advanced and custom services to maximize and protect your investment.
Table 1 lists the features and benefits available with the Cisco AccessPath-LS3.

Modem management | Reduced problem detection time |
WAN optimization, including compression, routing filters, snapshot routing, and dial-on-demand routing | Helps customers to reduce WAN costs, the single largest cost of internetwork operation |
Security management, including TACACS+, RADIUS, access lists, and violation logging | Provides comprehensive security throughout customer's core network infrastructure |
Flexible, dual-bank Flash architecture | Enabling rapid switch-in of known good images. Reduces software upgrade time and allows the storage of multiple software images in the same chassis |
Integrated CSUs, router, and modems accommodate ISDN Primary Rate Interface (PRI) T1/E1 lines or channelized T1 lines | Terminates asynchronous modem and digital ISDN calls with one phone number and allows a simple, cost-efficient migration path from today's analog dialup environment to the fast-growing ISDN digital services |
