Overview

The Cisco 1528 Micro Hub 10/100 (hereafter referred to as "the hub") is part of the Cisco Networked Office stack, which is a family of small-office networking platforms. It is a desktop Fast Ethernet hub that supports small workgroups operating at either 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps.

Table 1-1 describes the features of the hub. Figure 1-1 describes front panel LEDs. Figure 1-2 describes back panel LEDs and components.

Table 1-1: Feature Summary
Feature Description
Autonegotiation of port speed Eight fixed ports (RJ-45 connectors) detect and match the speed of connected network devices (either 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps). You can connect any combination of 10BaseT and 100BaseTX network devices to the hub. You connect the hub and network device with a 10BaseT or 100BaseTX Ethernet cable, as appropriate.
Internal bridging The hub can function as either a 10BaseT hub, a 100BaseTX hub, or both. When it is running as both 10BaseT and 100BaseTX hubs, an internal bridge connects the 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps network segments. For more information on internal bridging, refer to Appendix A, "Concepts."
LEDs The front panel LEDs show the status of the hub and its individual ports. The back panel LEDs show the status of the individual ports.
Standards conformance IEEE 802.3 10BaseT and IEEE 802.3u 100BaseTX.
