About This Guide
This section discusses the objectives, audience, organization, and conventions of the AccessPro PC Card User Guide. This document is available on Cisco Connection Documentation CD-ROM or a printed document can be ordered separately.
All Cisco technical documentation and additional literature are available on Cisco Connection Documentation CD-ROM, Cisco's online library of product information. Cisco Connection Documentation CD-ROM is updated and shipped monthly, so it may be more up to date than the printed documentation. This publication will step you through initial site preparation, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of the AccessPro PC card. It also covers selected maintenance procedures, such as replacing single in-line memory modules (SIMMs) and Flash memory.
This publication is designed for the person installing the AccessPro card who should be familiar with electronic circuitry and wiring practices and have experience as an electronic or electromechanical technician.
For a tutorial on initial software configuration, refer to the Router Products Getting Started Guide. For more advanced configuration applications, refer to the Router Products Configuration Guide and the Router Products Command Reference.
The major sections of this user guide are as follows:
- Chapter 1, "Overview of the AccessPro PC Card," contains an overview of the AccessPro card feature set and physical specifications.
- Chapter 2, "Preparing for Installation," contains safety recommendations, connection preparations, and console and auxiliary port cable connection considerations.
- Chapter 3, "Installing the AccessPro PC Card," contains installation and cabling information for the AccessPro card.
- Chapter 4, "Configuring the AccessPro PC Card," contains configuration information for the AccessPro card.
- Chapter 5, "Maintaining the AccessPro PC Card," contains instructions for setting COMport jumpers, changing system-code SIMMs, changing primary-memory DRAM SIMMs, recovering a lost password, and troubleshooting.
- Appendix A, "Cabling Specifications," contains pinouts associated with the AccessPro card cables.
- Appendix B, "Translated Safety Warnings," contains translations for all warnings that appear in the manual.

Command descriptions use these conventions:
- Commands and keywords are in boldface font.
- Variables for which you supply values are in italic font.
- Elements in square brackets ([ ]) are optional.
- Alternative but required keywords are grouped in braces ({ }) and are separated by a vertical bar ( | ).
Examples use these conventions:

Note Means reader take note. Notes contain helpful suggestions or references to materials not contained in this manual.
Timesaver This symbol means the described action saves time. You can save time by performing the action described in the paragraph.
Caution This symbol means reader be careful. In this situation, you might do something that could result in equipment damage or loss of data.
Warning This warning symbol means danger. You are in a situation that could cause bodily injury. Before you work on any equipment, be aware of the hazards involved with electrical circuitry and be familiar with standard practices for preventing accidents.
